iLO 2 Virtual Keyboard and Mouse May Stop Responding on HP ProLiant DL385 G5p or ProLiant DL385 G6
DESCRIPTION

On HP ProLiant DL385 G5p or ProLiant DL385 G6 servers running Windows Server 2003 SP2, the Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) Virtual Keyboard and Mouse may stop responding during a normal Remote Console session when the iLO 2 Virtual Keyboard and Mouse are connected to the default iLO 2 UHCI controller.

SCOPE

Any HP ProLiant DL385 G5p or ProLiant DL385 G6 server with Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) Firmware Version 1.80 (or earlier) and running Windows Server 2003 SP2.

RESOLUTION

To prevent the iLO 2 Virtual Keyboard and Mouse from ceasing to respond, upgrade to Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) Firmware Version 1.81 (or later).

After the firmware upgrade is complete, log into the iLO 2 webpage and navigate to the Remote Console Settings page and set the iLO2 Virtual Keyboard/Mouse to connect to the "System USB Port."

Note: This option will only be present in the Remote Console Settings page on ProLiant DL385 G5p and ProLiant DL385 G6 servers.

Perform the following steps to obtain the latest iLO 2 firmware version:

  1. Click on the following URL:

    http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html?pageDisplay=drivers

  2. Type "iLO 2" in the product box and then press the ENTER key.
  3. Click on "HP Integrated Lights-Out 2 (iLO 2) Firmware."
  4. Select the appropriate Windows operating system.
  5. Click on "Firmware - Lights-Out Management."
  6. Locate Firmware Version 1.81 (or later) and then choose the desired firmware upgrade method.
